Deconstructing whokebe
Date: June 20th, 2007 2:18 PM
Author: my golf swing is the only thing I care about (death in the afternoon)
It is not necessary even to look beyond the moniker. "Whokebe," pronounced in the mind, or aloud, is reminiscent of "who can he be?" This question, however, is blurred and distorted into the tribal utterance, "Whokebe," and one can image this ultimate question being chanted around the fires of our most ancient human ancestors. The effect of this figurative transformation is to brilliantly suggest that we are all Whokebe; we are all the answer to the question: "who can he be?" In this sense, Whokebe becomes an "everyman" voicing the universal concerns of all humanity about body image and the finance industry. More elusive, and perhaps more interesting, is the reality that, in the literal sense, Whokebe is actually the only poster on this site.
To elucidate further the issue of W as everyman, a prominent branch of contemporary whokebology, an examination of the whokebe chronology is required. Skeptics have cautioned against adding to the already saturated corpus of whokebe mythography. I maintain that a more thorough and conscientious scholarship can help us avoid the trap of devolving into whokebe hagiography, and indeed, will help us construct a wholly immanent whokebe. The disappearance of whokebe in 2006, through a theologic prism, would appear analogous to the ascent of Christ; and his occasional thereafter, renders all too easy a comparison with the descent of the Holy Spirit during Pentacost and subsequent religious revivals. Among the more mystically minded, there exists a sect fervent in its belief that the recent series of legal and extra-legal debacles faced by xoxo are in reality eschatological events and therefore augur the return of whokebe in whole and undisguised form. I would argue, however, that it is possible to conceptualize whokebe as the ground of being that pervades every xoxo post, that in fact the disappearance of whokebe is a theological slight of hand: whokebe has been with us all along.

men would pick my GF over her, physically+nonphysically, 60-75% of the time).
as far as "B", i can tell you for a fact that many/most YLS grads are no better off than i am
as far as "A", if you're trying to say she pwns me, you need to talk about what you think is rich

my gf isn't a supermodel and i don't have a killer job--i have a job probably similar to the one you'll have when you grad LS. you might do more or less doc review, etc, but the differences will be minor. and my gf is a typical girl people would consider hot, and i love her a lot because she's funny, smart, and secure. this despite "only" being at a non-elite LS. the rest of the stuff you say is just stupid.
as far as the "doing stupid things" part, i was referring to all the people i know in Law who have good credentials but are miserable/insecure. and yes, they do a lot of stupid things. you can say i do stupid things too, that's fine and there's no use for me to defend myself here. i'm not interested in that. i'm smarter than you so i'll stick to talking to pensive if i want to have a deep conversation.
p.s. i "picked" your curiosity? sweeTTT.

i have a lot of reasons i'm not going to reveal a lot. but sure, if you want to think that i'm not a lawyer (despite all the things i've discussed about law school, associate life, etc) you're free to think so. in fact, i encourage it.
as far as heide, i DO respect her. i said before, i think the best thing about Heide Iravani is her YLS credential. that said, that doesn't pwn anyone at all. i wouldn't trade places with her. she's in the 'moderately attractive' category. i'm better and my gf is better. but again, believe whatever you want. earl agrees with me and earl was outed and turned out to be a guy girls find attractive and who (and i believe him) gets women. i similarly have never had a problem getting women--sometimes in relationships when i was younger, i was a jerk, but no moreso than the typical college or law school student.
i'm not as accomplished as Heide in the LS department (who is) but i never claimed to be so.
i never targeted Heide. i dont focus on her--i found her way, way behind other of the girls on T14. im not the one who posts all the threads about her or googlebombs her.
i didnt care about heide or her story at all until i found out that she had douchey 'reputation defenders' working for her. that is too funny.
i'm done with this because it bores me. i've basically NEVER focused on heide. i'm not sure why you think that my 'pauliewalnuts' schtick has anything to do with heide's mess. maybe you're stupid and can't follow xoxo very well. i'm not a persian fetishist and heide is cool by me. i wish her the best. she's stupid if she sticks with Rep Defender, because they're just ensuring that she gets press attention and message board attention down the line.
my gf is beautiful and talented--maybe not YLS but she's better looking than heide and comes from an awesome family--and i know she wouldn't care if guys posted pictures of her and said she's hot. why? bc she is secure. and, know what? she's more secure than me. and probably more secure than you. and most other people. now *that* is what i consider to be pwnage.
summary: heide is pretty smart, pretty well educated, but *not* that attractive, and certainly doesnt seem very personable or cool.
alright dood have fun... tell me how *amazing* heide is, bc for some reason you think i denied that. go ahead and pwn me, as if i'll be stoopid enough to post proof like you requested.

i am doing this. i took 5 classes in the sciences while i was in law school/summer after law school. depends (as you might guess) on the school and your interest in the area. you don't necessarily need the UG degree but must have taken the prerequisite classes for the grad classes.
this means, short of seminars and other crap, you need to basically take the major classes that you didnt take as an UG.
i did this at age 24-25 while only having pre-med type classes in college

yes. (btw, PhD programs are not universally competitive... i'll throw out Epidemiology as an example. it comes down to research interests, experience, and solid but not amazing grades)
I took a few (6) of classes after graduating (while in Law School). I took them at a nearby state school with a very good program in the area applying to.
I'd rather not say what Dept I was admitted in, b/c these programs are small and not looking to out self.

chancemeeting's traits that you described in penetrating detail - 'spect - make him both endearing and the perfect comic fodder. He comes across as buffoonishly transparent, but also has enough self-awareness to be a good sport about it most of the time. He's obviously proud of his encyclopedic pop knowledge to the point of being enamored with its vastness at times, and officious at others, and it's fun to exploit this weakness. I genuinely like chance the poster, and think I would like him IRL as well.

He's obviously proud of his encyclopedic pop knowledge to the point of being enamored with its vastness at times, and officious at others, and it's fun to exploit this weakness. I genuinely like chance the poster, and think I would like him IRL as well.

my favorite part about chance is how whenever one of his threads or comments gets positive attention, he immediately hails me and says:
"Did you see the Michicago law student lawsuit thread? Hilarious!"

Are you an idiot, or are you a motherfucking idiot? Lat suffers no irreversible damage from any of this.
a) He has chosen to make a living out of making often mean-spirited and snarky blog entries on his site. He leaves himself open to the same. The difference between his comments and xo's is a matter of degrees, not fundamental difference.
b) Many, many blogs have a moderated comment section. Terminating a publication, my ass.

That's funny. Not ha-ha funny in the way you find that Friends punchline as refreshingly droll the fifth time you watch it as the first, but still kinda funny, you know, like the color your panties turn as your vagina drools uselessly and seeps its monthly weepings through your makeshift Barbaro-fur crotchcloth. But wait, maybe funny isn't the right word for it. Better term to describe your utter inability to distinguish your opinion from your heavy-handed, schoolmarmish self-righteous screeds: tragicomedy.
